I'm a fun-loving, adventurous, loyal, laid-back, compassionate person with a zest for life. People often mistake me for several years younger than my actual age.
One of my passions is travel. In fact, I've been to nearly every state in the US and many of the national parks. I've stayed in luxury hotels and l've camped out at the south rim of the Grand Canyon (the sunset was spectacular, as was the hike into the canyon). I've gone snorkeling in Hawaii, the Florida Keys, and Central America. I traveled all over north India and Hong Kong and most recently spent two weeks in Egypt. I love to see everything that a place has to offer from the famous sites to things off the beaten path that you won't necessarily find in the guidebooks. I have a long wish list of places yet to see. Another hobby of mine is oil painting. (I'm not as good as I'd like to be, but the process is fun!) I have also been a lifelong voracious reader (mostly scifi, mysteries, women's fiction) and I'm never far from a book. Other interests include socializing with a close group of lifelong friends, music (mostly alternative and classic rock, but I have eclectic tastes), watching movies, walking working out, going to concerts and the theater, hiking camping out, photography, cooking (I like experimenting with different cuisines) and am always game to try a new restaurant. I'm looking for someone who has a sense of adventure and a joie de vivre. Someone who approaches life with optimism and has a romantic streak. Someone who has a strong work ethic, but knows how to enjoy himself. Someone who is a good conversationalist and can listen as well as talk. Someone who is willing to grow both as an individual and as part of a couple. Someone who is equally happy gathering with friends, globe-trotting, or spending a quiet evening at home.

Family
I come from a small, close-knit family. My father is from a respected and affluent family in Surat. He is a mech. eng. and my mother was a teacher in an English medium school in India. They have been in the US for over 35 years. In fact, my father received his B. S. and two Masters degrees all from universities in the US. My mother has a BA from the Univ. of Calcutta in Burma. They are both semi-retired and spend much of the time traveling. They are loving, generous parents who have supported my long career as a 'perpetual' student.
I have one younger brother who is an electrical engineer. He moved to northern California to get his Masters degree in E. E. from Stanford. He liked the area so much he decided to stay there permanently! In his spare time he recently formed a band in which he plays the drums.
My extended family is full of numerous doctors and engineers. Most are scattered all over the US from California to Ohio to New York, and many more are in India.
