Mahisya Matrimony
Mahisya caste comprises Bengali Hindu people who are largely found in the states of West Bengal and Orissa. The status of Mahisyas lies between Kshatriya and Vaishya Varnas of Hindu society. It is believed that the children born of Kshatriya father and Vaishya mother are referred to as Mahishyas. They were traditionally laborers and tenant farmers but are now majorly employed in the business and service sectors. Biswas, Santra, Mondal and Samanta are among the common surnames found in Mahisyas.
