The Chhetri community is the follower of monogamy, which prohibits marriages between the cross cousins. Chhetri brides were married at an adolescent age earlier, but now trends have changed and the brides now finish their studies, get into job and then get married. A Chhetri bride wears a traditional red silk sari for her wedding, and covers her head with a long and transparent veil. A neckpiece made up of leaves is to be worn by both bride and groom.
