Havyaka Brahmin community members hail from Karnataka, though many reside in North Kerala. The members practice the Advaita philosophy and follow their traditional wedding customs. Wedding rituals starts few days before the actual wedding day and include many important rites specific to a Havyaka Brahmin Bride. Marriages alliances are fixed after knowing the 'gotras'. Common Havyaka Brahmin Brides gotras are Vasishta, Bharadwaja, Angeerasa, Bhargava, Gautama, Kashyapa and Vishwamitra gotras.
