Havyaka community is from Karnataka and North Kerala, and is Hindu Pancha Dravida Brahmin community. Havyaka brides and grooms are followers of Advaita philosophy, which is preached by Adi Shankaracharya. The Havyaka brides are intellectuals and many of them are in good jobs in the administrative sector and government of India. Alike other Brahmin communities in India, Havyakas are very orthodox and are strict about the alliances in same caste. However, marriage in same gotra is not allowed.
