Marathas are known to be the famous warriors of India. There are three related usages of Maratha: within the Marathi speaking region, Maratha is described as the dominant caste; outside Maharashtra, it can be referred as the entire regional population of Marathi-speaking people and historically, it is described as the Maratha Empire founded by Shivaji in the 17th century and then continued by his successors. The Maratha caste mainly comprises of rural cultivators, landowners, and soldiers.
