Marathis originate from the state of Maharashtra in western India and speak Marathi, an Indo-Aryan language. Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra whose name was changed from Bombay to Mumbai to retain the Marathi touch. Marathi Mumbai community comprises people who inhabit the wonderful city of Mumbai and speak Marathi as their main language. Even though Marathi Mumbai may follow any of the religions from Hinduism, Christianity, Islam or Buddhism; Marathi Hindus are apparently in great majority.
