Lohana is an Indo Aryan ethnic group that is believed to trace its lineage to warrior king Surya. Some believe they are the descendants of the sons of Lord Rama- Lava and Kush- those who originated from Lava are called Lohanas and those from Kush are Kushwahas. Lava is portrayed as a great warrior in Ramayana. Kshatriya Lohanas from Loharghat were referred to as Loharanas that meant ‚master of swords‚„. These Raguvanshi Kshatriyas are today settled in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Delhi.
