The Oriya, traditionally known in various names Odiya, Odri, Utkaliya, Kalingi, Dakhini, Kosli etc. are an ethnic group or community of eastern India and of eastern Indo-Aryan stock. They are found mainly in the coastal province of Orissa with minority populations in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
The Oriya people are famous for their long history of worshipping the Sun. And probably this is why Orissa is home to some of the oldest Sun temples in India including Konark.
