Vokaliga is a social group orignially from Old Mysore in Karnataka and is found in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as well. Vokkaliga means ‚one who tills the land‚„ in Kannada and people belonging to this caste are referred to as Okkaligars also. They have names like Gowda, Gounder, Gowder, Rao, Reddy, Naicker and Naidu.
