Khatri is the Punjabi adaptation of Kshatriya, a warrior tribe hailing from northern subcontinent. Traditionally, as administrators and rulers, Kshatriyas were assigned with protecting dharma, and serving humanity and world. However, with course of time, they also expanded into other occupations. The origin of the Khatri community is from Taxila, Potohar and Majha regions of the Punjab. Most of the Khatris are situated in northern parts of the country like Delhi, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.
