In Gharwali speaking Himachali region, a significant population of Rajputs are settled. Garhwali Rajputs are also known as Rawat Rajput that has descended from Chauhans. Today, they mainly reside in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. They mainly speak Garhwali an indo-Aryan language spoken widely in Garhwal division of Uttarakhand which is written in Devanagari script. Garhwali is one of the 325th recognized languages of India.
