According to Hindu caste system, Brahmin is the purest and an upper caste within the four varnas. There are nine Brahmin Rishi gotras which includes Atri, Kashyap, Kaushik, Gautam, Parashar, Bhardwaj, Vatsat, Vashisht and Haritas. A large population in Delhi comprises of Brahmins that visit Hindu temples and speak Hindi language. Parshuram, the avatar of lord Vishnu and Gautam Buddha were Brahmins. It is a caste of scholars that include some well known writers like Tulsidas, Chanakya, etc.
