Kannada is one of the major South Indian languages, spoken predominantly in the state of Karnataka along with the neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Goa. It is one of the twenty-two official languages of India.
The culture of theatre (rangabhoomi) is a tradition with Kannada Muslims where plays (nataka) glorifying epic characters and mighty Kings are performed on stage (rangamancha). Kannada Muslims live in harmony with other communities of the state.
