Kayastha is the only Hindu community that practices a ritual of worshipping pens, papers and books. Kayastha doctors get married in a ritualistic way i.e. by following various traditions and customs. The joy of marriage can be seen in the singing and dancing that takes place during procession of the baraat. The groom and his family are welcomed in the ceremony called 'Milni' by the girl's side. The couple then exchanges garlands, takes Saat Phere and seeks blessings for beginning their new life.
