Bengalis are an ethnic community and natives to the historic region of Bengal in India. The Bengali community speaks Bengali (Bangla), which is an Indo-Aryan language of the eastern Indian subcontinent and has evolved from the Magadhi Prakrit and Sanskrit languages.
Bengalis are, mainly, concentrated in the states of West Bengal and Tripura in India, and in Bangladesh. Besides that, there are a number of Bengali communities scattered in North-East India, New Delhi, and other Indian states.
