Bunt is a Hindu community, inhabiting southwestern and southern India, of erstwhile feudatory, nobility and gentry. Bunt is a Kshatriya clan that claims its descent from Nagavanshi lineage and is a multilingual caste that mainly speaks in Tulu and Kannada. The word Bunt comes from the Sanskrit word ‚Bhata‚„ that means soldier in Tulu language and belongs to ‚Military Class‚„ of the Tulu Nadu region. Bunts are sub divided into 4 main divisions- Masadika Bunt, Nad Bunt, Parivara Bunt and Jain Bunt.
