Kayastha is the only sect that is referred as direct descendant of Vedic God. It is a caste community of pure Kshatriyas. Kayasthas are widely respected in Oriya speaking state of Orissa. Some of the Karana community members refer themselves as Kayasthas. It is an educated and the most intellectual caste in Orissa. They are famously known for their writing skills and usually follow teaching, law, software jobs as their occupation. Famous surnames of Kayasthas in Orissa are Parija, Pattnaik etc.
