Madhya Pradesh often called the 'Heart of India' is a medley of ethnic groups and tribes, castes and communities. The population of MP includes indigenous people and migrants from other states of India. According to census of 2000, 91% people are Hindus and rest includes Muslims, Jains, Christians, Buddhists and Sikhs.
Hindi and dialects of Hindi like Malvi, Nimadi, Bundeli, Bagheli and Avadhi are widely spoken in the state. Tribal groups, Marathis and migrants speak their own native languages.
