Malayalee is a language that belongs to south Dravidian group of languages. Majority of the Malayalees are settled in the south western state of Kerala and include people of various religions. Malayalee Muslims are a minority group majority of which belongs to Sunni sect. The word Sunni comes from the word Sunnah which refers to the words of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. In north Kerala Muslims are known as Mappilas that earn their living by working in Gulf countries and have foreign incomes.
