Punjabi is an indo-Aryan language and a descendant of Sauraseni Prakrit language. It is the official language of Sikh community (that originally were Hindus) and spoken by the people living in Punjab and nearby areas in India and Pakistan.
Punjabi language is approximately the 13th most commonly spoken language in the world as many Punjabi's are settled in various continents. Hindu's living in Punjab or hail from that region also speaks Punjabi fluently. Majhi is the prestigious Punjabi dialect.
