Jains in Uttar Pradesh are in minority making roughly 1% of the entire population of the state. They may speak local languages or follow different rituals but follow the same principles i.e. on the lines of Jainism. UP is among the states with largest population of Jains in India which is more than 2 lakh out of the total 42, 25,000 according to 2001 census.
Mahavir Jayanti is an important festival for Jains in UP while they celebrate Hindu festivals Diwali, Holi and Dussehra with great fervor.
