The Hindi speaking group of Uttar Pradesh living in Kolkata can be referred to as Hindi-UP Kolkata. Majority of people in UP speak in Hindi and the state is often called 'Hindi Heartland of India'. When people move from UP in northern India to Kolkata in western region of the country, they are able to adjust quite easily since it is a movement from one cultural center to the other.
Hindi-UP Kolkata is made up of traditional people who believe in arranged matrimonies rather than love marriages.
