Konkani Hindu Brahmins are those Brahmins whose mother-tongue is Konkani or Marathi. They hail mainly from coastal Maharashtra, Goa and coastal Karnataka and from other areas like Gujarat and Kerala. The prominent communities among the Konkani Brahmins include Saraswat Brahmins, Daivajna Brahmins, Chitpavan Brahmins or Konkanastha Brahmins and Karhade Brahmins including Padye and Bhatt Prabhu.
In Konkani Hindu Brahmin marriages, mangalsutra is considered to be the most sacred ornament for women.
