The Konkani Hindu Marathas are primarily located in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, Goa and Karwar in Karnataka. The Marathas and Nutan Maratha Samaj speak Malvani, a dialect of Konkani. Those from Goa known as Gomantak Marathas speak pure Konkani and those from Karnataka speak the Karwari dialect.
Konkani Hindus prefer marriage within their community that is performed by observing all traditional customs and rituals. The sacred occasion is marked by evoking blessings of Gods and relatives.
