Brahmins, the members of upper caste in Indian society are also called Vipra (inspired) or Dvija (twice-born). Rajasthani Brahmins may be Bhardwaj, Dadhich, Kaushik, Pushkarna, Gaur, Upreti, Gujar Gaur, Vashishta or Jangid Brahmins. Another group is called Brahmin Swarnkars who have 9 rishi gotras further divided into subgotras.
Rajasthani Brahmins are strict vegetarians and marriage among the caste within the gotras depends on two pravaras- sishya-prasishya-rishi-parampara and putrparampara.
