Hinduism is one of the major religions followed by the people of Nepal. It constitutes almost 80% of the population. Hindu Brahmins are the most respected ones and falls under the top most clan of Hindu division of Varnas. The belief of Nepalis on Hinduism and its rituals can be judged by the fact that their yearly calendar is based on the time- keeping principles of the Vedas.
