Kashmiri Brahmin Pandits refers to a group of people, belonging to a division of Hindu Brahmins, who have their origin from Kashmir. Hindu Brahmins are said to hail from the priestly class of Hindus and are therefore the most respected in the area they live. Kashmiri Pandits, living in Kashmir have surnames like, Bakhshi, Bamzai, Ganjoo, Markande, Tankha, Karihaloo, etc. Kashmiri Pandits, have most of their festivals, same as of other Hindus, and their traditional roots are from Vedic culture.
