It is estimated that Marathi speaking Buddhists constitutes approximately 9% of the total population in Maharashtra state of India. Buddhists are those people that follow Buddhism. This religion does not believe in caste system and propagate equality and self purification by doing good deeds.
Today, a large population belonging to different communities in Marathi speaking region are becoming converted Buddhists which mainly includes mahar community that are spreading Buddhist religious beliefs.
